The story

An unfaithful husband confesses, in the tone of an intimate tribunal, what he did to the child his wife had by another man: Italian decadence at its extreme.

About the author

Gabriele D'Annunzio (1863–1938) took Italian decadence to its furthest point of sensuality and artifice.
